Juvenile killed, teenager injured in crash

A juvenile was killed and a teenager was sent to the hospital early Sunday morning after a crash in Southwest Amarillo.

Around 5:30 a.m. Amarillo Police officers were sent to the 3200 block of S. Georgia St. on a crash.

Police say 17-year-old Darius Francisco Bustos, was headed northbound in a 2008 Ford Mustang at a high rate of speed on S. Georgia from 34th Ave. According to police, that's when Bustos lost control of the car and hit a tree.

The juvenile passenger was killed in the crash, and Bustos was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injures. Police say no one was wearing seat belts and speed and alcohol are factors in the crash.

APD's Traffic Investigation Unit is continuing its investigation of the incident.
