AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - Amarillo Police's Traffic Investigation Unit continues to investigate an early morning Sunday crash that sent two people to the hospital.
APD officers responded to S. Bell St. and the I-27 S. Frontage Road on this incident around 5:40 Sunday morning.
According to police, an 18-year-old male was driving a 1999 Honda Motorcycle southbound on Bell St. when he tried to make a turn onto the frontage road of I-27.Police say he failed to control his speed and hit a curb resulting in the ejection of both he and a 19-year-old female passenger.
Both were taken to a local hospital. The passenger had life threatening injuries, the driver had non-life threatening injuries.
Police say speed and not wearing helmets are factors in the incident.
