AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) -

While we might be in football season, we are also in marching band season. 

All 38 schools in Region 1 with marching bands participated in a Marching Band Contest Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Bivins Stadium in Amarillo.

The bands have prepared for this contest since August 1 spending many hours coming up will a variety of music and performance ideas. The band’s performance times will have a minimum of 5 minutes and maximum of 8 minutes. All bands will be competing for rating of Division 1 (best) through Division 5 (poor) from three judges.

These three judges are: Robert Rubio from San Antonio, Alfredo Velez from The Woodlands, and Greg Miller from Iowa Park.

First division bands in conference 4A, and 6A will advance to area level competition. All Area level Marching Contests will be held on October 29. The Area Contests are as follows: 4A—Lubbock, Lowery Field, and 6A - Odessa, Ratliff Stadium.
