Multiple crews battle grass fire near Channing

HARTLEY COUNTY, TX (KFDA) -

Fire crews are continuing to put out hot spots after battling a grass fire near Channing in Hartley County.

Officials believe the fire was around three miles wide. The fire is about 15-20 miles west of Channing, just north of F.M. 767.

Fire units from Dalhart, Hartley, Logan and Nara Visa responded to the blaze.

During the fire, winds in the area were blowing northeast and topping out around 30 miles per hour.

The fire began burning just before 4 p.m. and was contained just before 6:30 p.m. 

All counties in the Texas Panhandle remain under a Red Flag Warning until 8 p.m. Monday.

A separate fire burned through more than nearly 900 acres of land near Boys Ranch Sunday, about 30 miles from the scene of Monday's ongoing blaze. An investigation into that fire continues.
