AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - A local family received keys to a new home thanks to long hours of volunteer work and one local organization.
Amarillo's Habitat for Humanity blessed a new home for the Win family who overcame several extreme obstacles.
A refugee camp in Thailand was the home for them when they decided there has to be a better way to live. They describe living in Thailand as "a prison" where they has no freedom, little food, and were unable to work.
While in Amarillo, the family says they are thankful to be employed, have their children in school and have plenty of food. They are now the proud owners of a 1,600 sq. ft home with 5 bedrooms and two bathroom located in the 2700 Block of S Mirror.
"This is a really special time for this family beyond receiving they keys to their home," says Amarillo Habitat Family Services Director, Sarah Curtis. "This will be a 4-generational home, a legacy and place of stability for this family that has worked so hard to make their dreams a reality."
This is the 106th House Blessing for Habitat for Humanity.
