Amarillo man hit, robbed outside home Thursday

AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) -

Amarillo police are asking for the public's help finding a suspect who robbed a man outside his home Thursday night.

Police say the victim was painting a door outside when the suspect approached him from behind. The suspect then struck the victim in the face, pointed a gun at him, and demanded his belongings before leaving the area on foot.

The victim tried giving chase but stopped when the attacker fired his weapon, according to the Amarillo Police Department. Officials describe the suspect as a black male, 5'10" and around 170 lbs. 

The robbery happened in the 1000 block of North Buchanan Street just before 10 p.m.

Personal items were taken from the victim, but he was uninjured during the incident.
