RANDALL COUNTY, TX (KFDA) - An area man is behind bars after deputies say he evaded arrest.
On Saturday, Oct. 1, Randall County Sheriff's dispatch received a call around 5 a.m., reporting a vehicle traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of Interstate 27 and Sundown Lane.
Deputies tried to located the vehicle described as an orange Honda hatchback.
Around 5:30 a.m., units with the Canyon Police Department located the vehicle and initiated a pursuit.
Stop spikes were deployed at mile marker 92 but the vehicle continued south in the northbound lanes.
Randall County deputies deployed spikes again at Happy and again a few minutes later when entering Swisher County.
All three of the stop spikes succeeded in deflating the tires and the car slowed down to about 30 miles per hour because the suspect's vehicle was running on its rims.
Around 5:45 a.m., deputies then barricaded the roadway with their patrol vehicles and the suspect's vehicle struck a Randal County patrol vehicle and was stopped.
The suspect was identified as 25 year-old Ryan Sustaita. He was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, Evading Arrest, and Detention in Motor Vehicle.
Sustaita was booked in to the Randall County Jail.
No one was injured and the patrol vehicle sustained moderate damage.
