National First Responders Day petition drive

National First Responders Day petition drive

Two companies are partnering with the family of a fallen officer in an effort to create a national holiday honoring first responders.

26-year-old Sean Collier was on duty as an MIT police officer days after the Boston marathon bombing, when the Tsarnaev brothers shot and killed him.

His family along with Hooters and NASCAR are appealing to Congress to create a National First Responders Day.

Supporters hope to gather 1 million signatures on their petition before the bill is reintroduced to Congress later this month.
