AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - Sergeant Paul Buckles has been awarded the Star of Texas Award.

Buckles died of a heart attack May 30, 2014 while participating in an active shooter training with multiple agencies.

He was with the Potter County Sheriff's Office for 26 years.

The award is given to peace officers that are seriously injured in the line of duty or killed in the line of duty.

Paul's son Jack and step mother Estelle and his brother Daniel were at the ceremony to accept the award.
