Amarillo police recover 2 stolen vehicles

AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - The Panhandle Auto Burglary and Theft Unit (PABTU) has recovered a vehicle that was stolen earlier this week.

On Aug. 30, a pewter gray 1999 Chevy Suburban was stolen from the parking lot of the apartment complex located at 6040 Belpree.

The vehicle's owner noticed the car was missing when he went outside to start it.

On Aug. 31, officers found that 29-year-old Richard Lawrence Lucero was in possession of the vehicle.

Lucero was later observed driving the suburban and was stopped at NW 17th and North Travis.

During their investigation PABTU officers found a motorcycle at Lucero's house. The motorcycle had also been reported stolen through the Amarillo Police Department during the night.

The motorcycle and suburban were released to their owners.

PABTU investigators are continuing to investigate the stolen motorcycle.

Lucero was booked into the Potter County Detention Centerv and charged with Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle and Tampering with Identification numbers.
