Arrest made in shooting of Clovis police officer

CLOVIS, N.M. (KFDA) - Clovis police have arrested Anthony Baca, the man suspected of shooting an officer who attempted to arrest him on an outstanding warrant earlier this week.

On Wednesday, Aug. 31, officers with the Clovis Police Department were dispatched to the 900 block of Mitchell St., Lindsey Law Office, in reference to Baca.

He was wanted on an outstanding felony arrest warrant of Assault with Intent to Commit a Violent Felony on a Peace Officer for an incident that occurred in Clovis on Aug. 29.

Officers arrived on scene, made contact with Baca, and took him into custody without incident.

Baca was transported to the Curry County Adult Detention Center.

He was arrested for Assault with Intent to Commit a Violent Felony on a Peace Officer, Failure to Appear, District Court Violation of Conditions of Release, and District Court Failure to Appear for Pre-Trial.
