CLOVIS, N.M. (KFDA) - Clovis police are searching for a man believed to have shot a city police officer in the leg after a brief chase on foot.
Police reportedly stopped Anthony Baca on a bicycle for a minor violation and attempted to make an arrest for an outstanding felony warrant.
Authorities say Baca, 34, fled the scene on foot and was tased whenever police caught up with him. A bullet struck a responding officer sometime during the incident, police said.
The officer was treated and released at Plains Regional Medical Center.
Baca is now wanted for assault with intent to commit a violent felony and aggravated battery upon a peace officer. He will also face evasion charges once he is located.
