AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) -

Two Amarillo police officers were sent to the hospital after a suspected drunk driver ran into their vehicles.

At 1:42 Monday morning, police reported Francisco Hernandez-Uribe, 23, was driving south on N. Grand Street when he ran the red light at the intersection with Amarillo Boulevard East.

Hernandez-Uribe struck the vehicle of two APD officers who were traveling west bound on Amarillo Boulevard East at that time.

The force of the collision caused the patrol car to hit a Dodge Charger, which was waiting at a red light to turn north at the intersection.

APD Officers Steven Deal and Zachary Matlock, and the driver of the Charger, Avery James, 39, were taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

All three were treated and released.

Hernandez-Uribe was not injured in the crash, and police said he had been drinking.

He was booked into the Potter County Detention Center for two charges of intoxication assault causing serious bodily injury to an officer, and one count of intoxication assault on James.

Police reported alcohol, running the red light and speed are all factors in the crash.
