"Pokemon Go" and its growing concerns

AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - Let's talk about "Pokémon Go" mania. This is a new game that is taking the nation by storm and getting people out doors. This can be great fun and good for people as they get out to find virtual Pokémon characters.

It may also have negative consequences. Last week, a policeman in Hereford told me that he sees people with their eyes glued to their smart phones in the middle of the night wandering around. This causes him to be suspicious and fearful for people's safety.

Most warnings written about the game, are basically for people to pay attention to their surroundings because you can quickly put yourself in danger.

The common concerns surrounding "Pokémon Go" include eyes on the screen while walking or driving, which is not necessary and sets you up for crashing into a tree or worse. The phone tells you a prize is close and you have plenty of time to get out of the way of other people and stop to catch it.

Forbes website makes two suggestions that are pretty obvious, but not always followed: Don't play while driving, and don't wander into police stations or anywhere else you're not wanted.

From our perspective, go have fun with "Pokémon Go." It is a game, but be careful.
