AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - The driver of an 18-wheeler that caught fire on Interstate 40 Wednesday afternoon was uninjured during the incident, according to the Amarillo Fire Department.
Chief Larry Davis said the fire ignited shortly after one of the truck's tires failed. The cause of the ignition is unknown.
Traffic slowed to a crawl near I-40 and the Ross Street exit during the incident. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire and remove the trailer from the road in about an hour.
