Amarillo man dies in overnight I-27 accident

CANYON, TX (KFDA) -

Police have now identified an Amarillo man who was killed overnight by a suspected drunk driver, as 28 year old KC Cantu.

The 22 year old driver, Jose Hernandez collided with the tow truck Cantu was adjusting on I-27 near Rockwell Road just before midnight.

Officers believed Hernandez had been drinking upon initial reports at the scene. After a complete DWI investigation Hernandez was arrested and booked into the Randall County jail and charged with Intoxication Manslaughter.

The crash shut down northbound lanes of I-27 for five hours. Those lanes are now open.
