AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) -

Shortly after 8:00 p.m. Wednesday Amarillo Police were called out to the 800 block of Travis street to a man chasing neighbors with a garden tool, possible machete and broken bottle.

Police say he ran inside a home and refused to come out.

SWAT and the bomb squad were called in to assist.

There was no one else inside the home at the time.

SWAT deployed tear gas inside the home to lure the man out.

He surrendered after 1:00 a.m. Thursday morning.

No one was hurt during the incident.

Family and friends tell us the suspect is the father of Mark Ramirez. Ramirez, who was believed to be suicidal and pointed a gun at officers, was shot and killed by Amarillo Police in December.

However, police say the incidents are not related.
