East Texas deputy's body cam captures lightning strike

PANOLA COUNTY, TX (KSLA) -

What was captured on one Panola County Sheriff's deputy's body cam is catching a lot of attention.

Recent storms spawned a few tornadoes in East Texas, causing massive amounts of damage. 

The deputy was reportedly assisting a motorist around 8:20 p.m. on April 11 about 12 miles west of Carthage and was walking back to his patrol unit when lightning struck.

The still image pulled from the deputy's video footage shows an impressive look at the power of severe ArkLaTex weather.

According to the National Weather Service, at least 3 tornadoes touched down in Harrison County, Texas last week. And across East Texas, the storms claimed the lives of 5 residents and damaged businesses and residences.

The Panola County Sheriff's Office posted the following on their Facebook page, which has since garnered more than 300 shares:
