UPDATE: An Amarillo driver and four passengers are send to a local hospital following a single vehicle Friday night.

Amarillo Police say 21-year-old Jonathen Phillips lost control of his Jeep Wranger, went over the curb and struck a power pole near Hillside and Star Lane. The Jeep did not roll over, but four passengers were thrown from the car.

The A-P-D says speed was a factor in this crash and some of the passengers were not wearing seat belts.

Officers say they recovered prescription pills at the scene and will investigate the possibility that narcotics were a contributing factor.
