AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - Representatives from the City’s Every Drop Counts Water Conservation Team are promoting and emphasizing the importance of water conservation.

If you want to help conserve water this summer and save money on your water bill, limit residential outdoor watering to twice per week. Repairing leaky hoses, faucets and sprinklers and even using native and water-efficient plants and trees to create an enjoyable outdoor space will help, as well.

The City’s overall average water use for 2015 was 36.93 million gallons per day (MGD). Amarillo’s average water use so far this year is 34.8 MGD. As a comparison, year-to-date water use is averaging approximately 1 MGD more than last year.

Even if the savings are small, Every Drop Counts. Conserving water is the most effective and environmentally sound way to protect our water supply. For more information on how to conserve water, visit http://water.amarillo.gov/
