AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - The murder of Robin Spielbauer is a case Randall County District Attorney, James Farren describes as lengthy and difficult --but also describes the recent arrest of Robin's ex-husband, Jeremy Spielbauer as one step closer to justice.

"No one deserves to be dumped like a sack of trash on the side of the road," said Farren. "Robin Speilbauer was a mother, a daughter and a friend to a lot of people and she deserves justice and we are going to do our best to bring that to her."

33-year-old Jeremy Spielbauer was arrested on a capital murder warrant earlier this afternoon. Police say Randall County Sheriff's deputies found him at 34th and Osage on a lunch break from work.

New evidence in the investigation into this murder case was presented to the grand jury today.

"We've spent a lot of time on cell phone data and satellite tracking information," said Farren. "We currently anticipate that information playing a vital role in the trail of Jeremy "J.D" Spielbauer."

It was similar evidence that dropped the case against their first murder suspect, Katie Spielbauer, who at the time was married to Jeremy.  She was arrested just days after Robin's body was found on Helium Road.

She spent 466 days in jail for the capital crime, but was released July of last year after cell phone evidence from her phone did not place her at the crime scene.

Jeremy's attorney, Len Walker believes this will be a difficult case for both sides.

"We got two years that's gone by," said Walker. "The district attorney focused on Katie Spielbauer at first and was prosecuting her for over a year. There's a lot of complicated evidence at issue. So, yeah, it's going to be a very involved drawn out case."

Walker also says Jeremy maintains his innocence in this case.

"I can tell you that I've been working with Jeremy for over two years. I believe in Jeremy's case and I believe in his innocence and we'll see how things go from this point forward," said Walker.
