CANYON, TX (KFDA) - Canyon police are trying to determine who supplied and furnished alcohol to minors at a weekend party at West Texas A&M's Sigma Nu chapter, the fraternity currently on suspension after reported allegations of sexual assault.
Meanwhile, officials say the two women who underwent precautionary medical exams after the Saturday party did not intend to have police intervene. The women involved exercised their rights under Texas law and initiated the exams themselves, police said.
Chief Dale Davis noted the department's shift in the investigation Thursday.
Davis said underage drinking at the Sigma Nu house, located at 2522 4th Ave., has been an ongoing concern and has resulted in multiple citations to minors in the past. The investigation will try to determine who supplied the party with alcohol and allowed the minors in attendance to drink.
Further details on the initial call were not released.
