Investigation into overnight shooting continues

CURRY COUNTY, N.M. (KFDA) - Two residents are in critical condition after being shot early Tuesday morning, according to the Curry County Sheriff's Office. An investigation is ongoing.

Officials say Chance Plummer, of Portales, was found in a hotel parking lot on North Prince St. around 2:30 a.m. Authorities say he was shot in the torso but remained responsive.

Plummer and an additional witness said the shooting happened in the 1400 block block of Curry Road H. Deputies later responded to the area and found 48-year-old Dennis Huggins, of Clovis, inside a residence on the block suffering from a gunshot wound to his head.

Both Huggins and Plummer were later airlifted to a medical facility in Lubbock with potentially life-threatening injuries.

Investigators say a person of interest has been identified and located, but no additional information will be released at this time.
