AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - As we approach spring and summer, the Department of Public Safety is urging you to use extra caution when using recreational vehicles.
In recent months, ATV's, golf carts, dirt bikes and others alike have been involved in several serious crashes, resulting in death or serious injury -- many of those involving children.
Texas law prohibits these vehicles on any public roadway, including interstate and state highways. They are manufactured to operate at low speeds only, do not have proper safety features, and are not register or insured by the state of Texas.
The DPS reminds you to always wear a helmet, eye protection, and be safe.
