Police investigate E. Amarillo Blvd. shooting, suspect in custody

AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - A morning shooting has led to an arrest, and two in the hospital.

It all started at the Competition Towing on Amarillo Boulevard.

Amarillo Police tell us a man and woman were in a truck when another man walked up and began firing shots. The identities of all involved have not been released as the investigation is ongoing.

We do know the male in the car was shot in the head and the female sustained various gunshot wounds.

He has since been flown to Lubbock's University Medical Center with traumatic injuries. The woman's injuries do not appear life-threatening.

"Officers detained a white male, correction arrested a white male standing next to a blue SUV across the street at the 4600 block at the Woods Inn," says Officer Chrysler Laur.

That man has not been formally charged, and his identity will be released once he has been. As far as reasoning behind the shooting, officers are still searching for answers, but they do have an idea.

"We have evidence to believe this is possibly some sort of neighborly dispute, but that part is still under investigation at this time," says Laur. Our initial information indicated that the suspect and the victim victims did know each other."

Once again, the investigation is ongoing and we will bring you any details as they become available.
