AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - Nine local children facing physical challenges are now able to ride a special tricycle of their own.
Southwest Ambucs donated nine AmTryke therapeutic tricycles and Amarillo firefighters helped put them together.
Saturday morning, they surprised the children with the tricycles.
The tricycles are designed to help provide fun and independence to children with disabilities.
"It's a confidence booster for them, so once they think they can, they can," said Ron Blessen, the chairman for Southwest Ambucs. "This is our total dreams and goals for the day and this is what Ambucs is for -- to help these children live a normal life."
Each tricycle costs about $600.
Southwest Ambucs raises money for the tricycles through sponsorship programs and fundraisers throughout the year.
