CHILDRESS, TX (KFDA) - A brush fire off US 287 near the Hall and Childress County Line is now 100 percent contained.

The fire began Friday evening and multiple agencies responded to battle the flames.

The Texas A&M Forest Service said the fire burned 3,000 acres.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

As dry conditions continue, the forest service urges residents to not weld near dry grass, don't burn trash and don't park in the grass. A small spark could start a very large wildfire.
