AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - The Amarillo Fire Department dealt with a house fire today believed to be started by a fallen power line.

AFD arrived at 2129 South Fairfield just after 12:00 p.m. and found a downed power line in the alley behind the home. Officials believe high winds caused the electrical line to fall over into the backyard and light the grass on fire, which later spread to two other homes. The fire was contained before causing damage to the home's interior, according to officials.

Damage was caused to the home's fence and backyard. One resident was evacuated while crews battled the fire, but no injuries were reported.

The estimated amount of damage for both homes and the area in between is $35,000.
