Wreck slows I-27 traffic in Amarillo Tuesday evening

AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - Northbound traffic on Interstate 27 stalled Tuesday night due a wreck involving at least three cars.

The Amarillo Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash.

The wreck happened around 7:30 p.m. between the interstate's Western St. and 45th Ave. exits. Several crews actively cleaned the scene for the next hour as traffic was reduced to one lane. The access ramp near 58th Ave. and Western St. was shut temporarily shut down.

Officials said all occupants involved only reported minor or no injuries.

Police opened all lanes of traffic less than an hour after the crash.

    The Potter County Grand Jury will not recommend charges against two Amarillo police officers involved in the shooting death of a man this past June. On June 27th, Officers Bryan Gaitan and Michael Wheeler responded to a trespassing call at an apartment complex on South Nelson Street.
