UPDATE: The Texas A&M Forest Service said the grass fire is now 60 percent contained.

The fire started on Tascosa Rd. just past Bishop Hills Saturday afternoon. It's estimated 1,200 acres have burned.

Railroad tracks halted the fire from moving forward, but wind coming in could spread flames to the east.

Five aircraft are on scene, dropping fire retardant to suppress the flames. Two of those aircraft flew in from Abilene to help.

Fire departments from Amarillo, Canyon, Potter and Randall counties and the National Park Services have been working for hours to control the flames.
