AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - The Texas Department of Public Safety says more than $1.6M worth of narcotics were discovered in two recent traffic stops along I-40.
Both traffic stops happened outside of Conway in Carson County.
Officials say the bulk of the drugs was seized Wednesday when a trooper found nearly 12 pounds of heroin inside a spare-tire holder. The drugs were reportedly worth $1.51M.
Authorities believe they were being transported from California to North Carolina.
Nearly $170,000 worth of marijuana was found in the trunk of a vehicle during a separate search Thursday, according to DPS. Officials say the trooper conducted a search of the vehicle and discovered several vacuum-sealed packages of marijuana in the trunk weighing a total of 28 pounds.
