AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - Amarillo police are investigating an alleged sexual assault that left two people requiring medical attention.
Officers responded to a home near Amarillo College's main campus Thursday night around 9:00. After forcibly entering the home, officers say they found a woman with a gunshot wound to her shoulder. The woman told police she was sexually assaulted by a man who was in her home as a guest. Her wound, she explained, came from a gun she had grabbed for protection. She was able to grab a knife and stab the male before he fled, officials said.
Police say the suspect in the alleged sexual assault, 38-year-old David Lynn Gooch, was later found in a home in the 1500 block of SE 6th Ave early Friday morning. He was arrested and booked into the Potter County Detention Center after receiving medical attention for a recent stab wound on his right side, according to police.
A handgun and knife were collected at the original home for further investigation.
