Weekend arrest puts two men in jail

Amarillo, TX (KFDA) - APD arrested two men in a stolen car early Saturday morning.

Around 4:15 a.m. Feb. 6 Amarillo police were called to the 3600 block of East Amarillo Blvd on a suspicious car. Officers spotted the suspect vehicle leaving a parking lot in the area and tried to make a traffic stop. The driver then hit a parked car and fled on foot with a passenger. Officers were able to catch the suspects and arrest them.

The driver is identified as Cody Prieto age 25 and the passenger Oscar Trujillo age 21.

Police recovered the vehicle and found it to be a Volkswagen stolen from Friona, TX.

Prieto faces charges for evading arrest using a vehicle, evading arrest, unauthorized use of a vehicle, resisting arrest and drug paraphernalia.

Trujillo is facing charges for criminal trespass of a vehicle and evading arrest.

Both men were booked into Potter County Jail.
