Amarillo, TX (KFDA) - On Wednesday, February 3rd, around 10:25pm, APD officers were sent to the 2600 block of Olive on a report of someone with a gun.
Officers were told that a man was firing a gun in the neighborhood.
Upon arrival officers say they contacted several neighbors who pointed out Timothy James Lucero, 36, who claimed that someone was after him.
APD says that Mr. Lucero claimed that people were chasing him around the neighborhood and that he was in fear of his life.
While officers were talking to Lucero, another officer spoke with neighborhood residents.
Officers say that Lucero was the one that was armed with the gun and was wearing body armor as well.
Officers recovered the weapon and the body armor in a neighbor's house that Lucero had hidden them in.
Further investigation revealed the pistol was stolen in 2014 in a residential burglary in South Amarillo.
Lucero was arrested and booked into the Potter County Correction Center on a charge of Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Felon in Possession of Body Armor.
The stolen firearm and body armor were booked as evidence.
