Police seek suspects in weekend robbery, assault

AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - An Amarillo man was attacked outside of a bar this past weekend, and police are asking for your help to track down the suspects.

At around 10:45 Saturday night, police say a victim in his 50s had just parked his vehicle outside Amarillo Tavern on Amarillo Boulevard East, when he was approached by another man who asked for a cigarette.

The victim says he told the man he did not have one, but when he continued walking, the suspect struck him from behind and knocked him to the ground.

That's when police say a second suspect arrived, and kicked the victim as the first suspect assaulted him on the ground before fleeing the area with the victim's cell phone and wallet.

Police say the victim refused medical treatment despite suffering several bruises and abrasions in the attack.

The suspects are only described as two Hispanic men, one wearing a light blue shirt and the other wearing a white shirt.

Anyone with information on this robbery or the whereabouts of these suspects is urged to contact Amarillo Crime Stoppers at 806-374-4400.  Tips can also be submitted online at amapolice.org.
