AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - The Texas Department of Transportation continues to help the city with their Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities Program.
The Texas Transportation Commission grants money to organizations that are licensed to work with seniors or the disabled and places them with transportation providers.
Seniors, Veterans, or citizens with disabilities can make an appointment and have someone from the program pick them up.
"It's a public transportation, like the Panhandle Transit type buses," said Barbara Seal, a Public Information Officer for TxDOT in the Childress District. Those in need can be taken to work, school, or health care facilities.
TxDOT is working with the city through this program to make sure the transportation needs of our locals are met. Yet, they want to further assist the community, so they are asking for feedback from those who use the service. They believe feedback is important because it could improve the program.
"We can figure out if there is a need, get that grant money applied for, and then try to take some of these cities or organizations that deal with seniors and those that are disabled together with program providers and see if we can help improve the situation," said TxDOT Spokesman Paul Braun.
Braun said they want to know the quality of your service. They want to know if the transportation needs enhancement, if it is available, and if it is sufficient.
Feedback can be given to TxDOT's Richard Neill by calling 806-356-3200.
