Amarillo police find drugs and weapon during early morning investigation

Amarillo, TX - An Amarillo man is facing charges after police say they found several types of drugs and a gun in his vehicle.

APD reports say they spotted a vehicle in the 3600 block of Amarillo Blvd East around 3:20 a.m. Friday morning and became suspicious when the driver began to shake uncontrollably. Officers made contact with the suspect and noticed an open container of alcohol inside the car. Officers searched the suspect and found a pill bottle containing different prescription pills that police say were not prescribed to the suspect.

Police also found a small bag of a white powdery substance that officers believed to be cocaine.

APD then searched the man's car and found a semi automatic pistol under the driver's seat. The pistol was later determined to be stolen from Wichita Falls.

The driver is identified as Ricky Hill, 37, of Amarillo.

Hill was arrested and booked into Potter County Jail and faces charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by Felon, Theft, two charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Marijuana.
