Survival damages awarded to victim's family in 2010 murder-suicide

Amarillo, TX (KFDA) - The family of a murder-suicide victim has been awarded $1 million in survival damages.

In 2010, Darren Moore shot Kristi Moore in the head and then shot himself. Darren Moore was a former Randall County Sheriff's Deputy and Kristi Moor was a counselor at Tascosa High School.

The 47th District Court recently ruled that "substantial damages have been caused to the Estate of Kristi Moore as proximate result of her death." Her parents were granted the $1 million award for survival damages, including mental anguish, pain and suffering.
