AMARILLO - Two suspects are now in custody in connection to the murder of Zachary Scott Cooper.
Police arrested Michael Alan Moore Friday on a murder warrant. Moore was also charged with fraudulent possession of identifying information. Police identified Moore as the man seen in the Walmart surveillance video that police provided.
Thursday night, police also arrested James Michael Propsom on a charge of tampering and fabricating with physical evidence, possession of a controlled substance and possession of narcotic paraphernalia.
Both were booked into the Potter County Correction Center.
Police found Cooper, 28, slumped over in a car Wednesday night in the parking lot of the McDonald's near I-40 and Grand in Amarillo. Autopsy results later confirmed he died of a gunshot wound to the torso.
Before Cooper was found, police say Moore and Cooper drove to the nearby Walmart, where Moore exited the car. Officers say another man entered the car while Moore was inside, though it is unclear if Propsom was that person.
"They're conversing through the passenger side window as it's rolled down," APD Corporal Jerry Neufeld told NewsChannel10 Thursday. "They're just talking a little bit. He ends up getting in there in that vehicle. That vehicle starts leaving and before it gets back over to the McDonald's, a third person gets back into that vehicle. Whether it's the one that was inside on the phone who had initially got out of it, we don't know."
