Dead soldier identified as Clovis native; Investigation continues

FORT HOOD - Military officials are investigating the death of an Army soldier stationed at Fort Hood.

Staff Sgt. Devin Lee Schuette, of Clovis, died January 3. The 35-year-old was stationed at the Army base near Killeen, Texas, as an intelligence analyst.

On Monday, The Killeen Daily Herald reported a soldier, confirmed as Schuette Tuesday, was found dead in a vehicle near a recreation area on post. Military officials did not release any further circumstances regarding his death.

Schuette deployed to Iraq three times as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Fort Hood officials say he was awarded five Army Commendation Medals, one Army Achievement Medal, five Army Good Conduct Medals, and a National Defense Service Medal among others.
