Dumas, TX - The Dumas Police Department is hosting a free course on how residents should respond to an active shooter situation.
The class, Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE), is Thursday, January 7th from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Dumas Municipal Courtroom. The courtroom is located in the east side of the Police Department at 124 E. 7th St.
Sgt. Nick Jordan will be instructing the class and will follow it up with a short presentation on the new open carry law. He will also speak on what handgun license holders responsibilities and interaction should be with both shooters and police during an active shooter event.
Class size will be limited to 50 people. However, additional classes will be scheduled as needed.
