Amarillo, TX - Three lanes will be closed next week because of construction.
Beginning January 4th, S.E. 8th Avenue from Buchanan Street to Pierce Street will be closed to through traffic due to construction of Xcel Energy's new downtown Amarillo headquarters. The closure is estimated to last 5 months.
Tuesday January 5th, two southbound center lanes along Coulter Street directly north of 34th Avenue will also be closed. The Water Distribution department will assist contractors with the installation of a new fire tap for the McDonald's construction located at 3320 S. Coulter.
Those lanes are estimated to open back up on January 15th.
During that time traffic can access the left and right hand lanes of Coulter and drivers can proceed south through the intersection. Both left and right hand turn lanes of the intersection will be open.
The city of Amarillo would like to thank area motorists in advance for their patience through the duration of the projects.
