AMARILLO, TX - Narcotics and a weapon found during a traffic stop land one man in the Potter County Detention Center Tuesday evening.
Jose Francisco Gutierrez Argulles of Tuscon, Arizona was booked after an APD officer stopped him on Soncy Road and smelled the odor of marijuana coming from inside Argulles' vehicle.
A search of the car led to the discovery of a 9 mm handgun wedged between the seats in addition to two bags of cocaine on the passenger side floorboard. Officers also recovered 25 grams of marijuana, and about $5000 in cash under a seat.
Three passengers were in the vehicle, and they were released to the Border Patrol for additional investigation.
Officers booked Argulles on charges of manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance over 400 grams, and unlawfully carrying a weapon.
The Amarillo Police Department say they have made several narcotic and weapon related arrests this week, seizing hydroponic marijuana, cocaine, crack cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamines. They have also seized several firearms during the course of these investigations.
