Amarillo, TX - A recent traffic stop of two fugitives led to the recovery of drugs and blank checks, according to the Amarillo Police Department.
Police say Whitney Vancleave and Timothy McQuaig were arrested Tuesday. Both were booked into the Randall County Jail.
Officers were following up on a tip to find Vancleave, who was wanted for probation violation. They spotted her inside of a car near 46th and Hughes in Amarillo. Police say a syringe was found in her belongings.
Police discovered the driver, McQuaig, also had outstanding warrants and say he falsely identified himself to officers. Several grams of a drug believed to be methamphetamine was discovered in his pocket, police said.
Officers say they also found a loaded handgun and 11 blank, signed checks from various accounts in his possession. Investigators have not identified where the checks came from.
McQuaig faces 10 charges, including manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, fraudulent use or possession of identifying information, possession of drug paraphernalia, and multiple warrants for bail jumping, theft, assault and bond forfeiture.
Vancleave was also booked into Randall County jail on two warrant charges and possession of drug paraphernalia.
