Amarillo, TX - NewsChannel 10 has received multiple phone calls and messages Friday concerning rumors of a lock-down situation or ongoing threat at Tascosa High School in Amarillo.
Amarillo Independent School District spokesperson Holly Shelton released a statement early Friday afternoon addressing the rumors.
It reads as follows:
"In response to a possible threat against Tascosa High School, Amarillo ISD in conjunction with the Amarillo Police Department have taken the precautionary measure to increase the security presence and patrols around Tascosa. As part of their investigation into the rumor, police have made contact with the alleged source and do not have evidence to indicate there is a viable threat to the school at this time. Our staff will continue to work closely with police to investigate these rumors. Providing a safe place for our students to learn is the district's highest priority."
