Local church raises money for Outback Steakhouse employees

Amarillo, TX -  About 50 Outback Steakhouse employees are without a job following the semi crash this past weekend.

Jeremy and Erin Pfeil, a local pastor for Accelerate Church and his wife, were actually at Outback Steakhouse when the semi crashed into the employee area of the restaurant on Saturday. That night, they spoke with employees who were worried how to make ends meet this holiday season with no place to work.

In response to those concerns, Accelerate Church set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for Outback employees. In just three days, they have raised nearly $3,500.

Their goal is to raise at least $10,000.

"If we can get $10,000 that would at least give them about $200 each," said Erin Pfeil. "But if we can go higher than that, then that's more. These are just workers and if it was your job you'd like someone to give to you. Some people are saying, well isn't that Outback's job? Well it's the holiday season, so we're here to help them. It doesn't matter whose job it is."
