Dumas PD alert of bad check cashing

Dumas, TX - The Dumas Police Department is warning local businesses of a group cashing bogus checks after police say the City of Dalhart was hit by the same problem.

According to Dumas Chief of Police Jim Nelson, a group of traveling criminals has chased $65,000 worth of bad checks in Dalhart. Police say these checks were computer generated on the account of one of their local dairies.

So far, three people were arrested for the alleged crime, but officials aren't sure how many more could be involved.

If you have any concerns about check cashing or other transactions, contact Dumas Dispatch at 806-935-2151.
