Dr. Dixon retrial: Day 14

LUBBOCK, TX -  Dr. Thomas Michael Dixon continued his testimony Thursday during day 14 of his retrial.

Dixon admitted that he lied to detectives and destroyed evidence.

He jumped into his pool with his cell phone in his pocket to try to delete text messages between him and David Shepard.

Dixon is accused of hiring Shepard to kill Lubbock pathologist Joseph Sonnier.

He told the court he left town for a day after finding out about Sonnier's murder.

He un-liked Facebook pages for groups in Lubbock, and tried to distance himself from the city and the crime as much as possible.

Dixon said he had no idea that Shepard was the murderer when he first heard about the crime.
