Amarillo Teen Pleads Guilty to Attempted Sex Trafficking

AMARILLO - An Amarillo teenager will spend time behind bars after pleading guilty to one count of attempted sex trafficking of a child, the Northern District of Texas U.S. Attorney's Office said.

A sentencing date for 19-year-old Xzavion Ragsdale has not been set.

According to court records, Ragsdale admitted to trying to recruit a 15-year-old girl to work for him as a prostitute earlier this year. The supposed teenager was actually an undercover Task Force Officer, who was investigating Ragsdale on suspicions of him using Facebook to recruit and convince teenage women to have sex for profit.

The two exchanged messages on Facebook over March 30, 2015 to April 3, 2015. At one point in the conversations, Ragsdale told the undercover account, "you can make 2500 in a week if you really put the work into it," court records show. The undercover persona repeatedly told Ragsdale she was 15.

The Amarillo Police Department and the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations investigated the case.
