AMARILLO, TX - A possible narcotic activity call leads to two arrests at a local motel.
Amarillo Police Department ProActive Criminal Enforcement officers responded to the call Friday afternoon at the Estess Motel at 3511 Amarillo Boulevard East.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with one of the tenants of the room and noticed a pipe used to smoke methamphetamine on a table.
Officers checked the three people present for warrants, and found that the 26 year-old tenant, Kayla Rae D'Nae Swaim, was wanted for a misdemeanor and warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia. After searching Swaim, enforcement officers found a baggie of about 7.5 grams of what is believed to be methamphetamine on her.
While police were talking to two others at the motel, a narcotic detection canine alerted the presence of drugs in the car belonging to one of them. A search of the car yielded a small amount of marijuana in the console, and the owner Tabyron Jacobi Boxten was arrest.
When arresting officers searched Boxten, they found an additional bag containing about 18 grams of possible meth inside his clothing.
Police also found a baggie of about 6 grams of methamphetamine in a bed in the room.
Boxten was booked into the Potter County Detention Center for manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance, and Swaim was also booked into the Detention Center for possession of over 4 grams of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and the warrant of possession of paraphernalia.
